Sports · Outdoors · Mackinac Island
A July sailboat race of 333 miles from Chicago up the length of Lake Michigan to a finish at Mackinac Island, run by the Chicago Yacht Club.
The Race to Mackinac has run more than a century, and its finish brings a fleet of racing boats and their crews to Mackinac Island each July.
Finish times vary with conditions, so if you want to see boats arrive, plan to be on the island for a few days after the start.
The race covers 333 statute miles, the length of Lake Michigan, from Chicago to Mackinac Island. 2026 was the 117th race.
