On Main Street in downtown Mackinac Island
Lake View Hotel sits on Main Street in the middle of downtown Mackinac Island, across from where the Shepler’s and St. Ignace Arnold ferries arrive. It opened in 1858 as the Lake View House, and Mackinac State Historic Parks dates the building to the same year in its archive of island hotel photographs. The hotel describes itself as the island’s oldest continuously operated hotel.
The building keeps a front porch lined with rocking chairs, and the hotel lists 85 rooms and suites. A four-story atrium holds an indoor heated pool and hot tub, which the hotel says is the only indoor pool downtown. The property went through an extensive renovation over the winter of 2023 to 2024.
The hotel lists a season from early May to late October, with its reservations office open year-round; confirm dates when you book. Riding stables are a block behind the hotel, and the shops and restaurants of downtown are right outside.
