Terms of Use

The short version: this is a free, independent guide offered as is. Details change, so always confirm directly before you go, and the outdoors up north deserves respect. The full terms are below.

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of UpNorthVacation.com (the "Site"). The Site and its associated services are operated by 360 DEV LLC, under the UpNorthVacation.com name. References to "we," "us," and "our" in these Terms mean 360 DEV LLC, which is the party providing the Site and the party you are agreeing with. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

An independent guide, with disclosed listings

UpNorthVacation.com is an independent travel guide. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any city, county, state agency, tourism bureau, park, or event organizer mentioned on the Site. We name businesses, parks, and events only to identify and describe them for readers. All trademarks and names belong to their respective owners.

A company related to the Site's owner owns vacation rental property in the region. Where a business we link to has a connection to that property, such as managing it, we say so next to the link. Any other business connection, or paid listing, is labeled the same way. These interests do not decide what our travel guides recommend; see our editorial policy.

A free guide, with no promises

The Site is a free resource, offered as a courtesy. You do not pay for it, and we make no promise that any of it is complete, accurate, or current.

We research from official sources and show when each page was last checked. Even so, event dates, hours, fees, accessibility features (such as ramps, accessible parking, or restrooms), access, trail and road conditions, and whether a business is open at all can change without notice, and we may not know. A page that says a place is open, accessible, or offers something may be wrong by the time you read it.

Always confirm directly with the business, park, or organizer before you travel or rely on anything here, especially if you have accessibility needs. We are not responsible for a wasted trip, a closed door, or any other inconvenience or loss that comes from relying on the Site.

Outdoor safety

Lake Michigan and inland lakes can be dangerous. Waves, rip and structural currents near piers, cold water, ice, dune slopes, weather, and remote trails all carry real risk. Nothing on the Site describes current conditions or says an activity is safe. Check local beach, weather, ice, and trail reports, follow posted warnings and agency rules, and use your own judgment. You are solely responsible for your own choices, safety, and conduct while traveling, and you assume all risks of travel and outdoor activities.

Places to stay

We do not take bookings or payments. Places to Stay names a few places in each town and links to lodging directories, rental managers, and booking sites such as Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Google Hotels, Vrbo, and Airbnb. We are not affiliated with these sites and earn nothing from the links. Any booking is between you and that business or booking site, under their terms, and questions or problems with a booking are handled by them. Price tiers on the Site come from each property's published hotel class, not from rates; confirm rates, availability, amenities, and rules before you book.

No professional advice

The Site provides general travel information only. It is not legal, financial, medical, safety, or other professional advice.

Intellectual property

The original text, design, and other content we create for the Site is our property and is protected by applicable laws. Photos on the Site come from Pexels, used under the Pexels License; from U.S. government sources such as the National Park Service, which are in the public domain; and from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons licenses, credited with the author and license next to the photo. You may share links to the Site and quote brief excerpts with attribution. You may not copy, republish, or redistribute substantial portions of our content without permission.

Third-party links and maps

The Site links to third-party websites and displays map data from OpenStreetMap contributors. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, products, services, or practices, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on the destination site.

Limitation of liability

The Site and its content are provided for general information only, on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Site or your reliance on any information it contains.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Michigan. Nothing here limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of your own place of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and the revised date below will reflect the update. Continued use of the Site means you accept the current Terms.
