On the Lake Huron shore of Mackinac Island
Mission Point Resort occupies 18 acres on the sunrise side of Mackinac Island, on Lakeshore Drive along the Lake Huron shore. The resort and the Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau both describe a broad lawn with Adirondack chairs where guests watch freighters pass.
The property is family-owned and pitches itself to families and to travelers with dogs, with a limited number of dog-friendly rooms. On site are several restaurants, the Lakeside Spa and Salon, an outdoor pool, and an 18-hole putting course called the Greens of Mackinac, plus lawn games. The resort also runs guided sunrise hikes and bike outings, and it hosts weddings and meetings.
Fort Mackinac and Arch Rock are both within walking distance, according to the resort. As with everything on the island, there are no cars: guests come over by ferry and walk or bike from the docks. The resort’s seasonal packages run from late spring into late October.
