The Highlands is the big Boyne-owned resort in the hills outside Harbor Springs, at 600 Highlands Drive, with lodging, rentals and lessons on site. It suits a group that wants a lot of runs in one place: 55 of them on 435 skiable acres, with 8 chairlifts and 552 feet of vertical. Night skiing and recreational NASTAR racing are listed on select days.

Cross-country skiers have more than 16 km of trails, and the resort runs guided night hikes to North Peak in winter. If you are also skiing Boyne Mountain, look at the pass the two resorts share.

In summer it becomes a bike and golf resort. The bike park has trails for a range of riders, hiking trails wind across the property, a chairlift carries you up for the view, and there are four golf courses plus a 9-hole disc golf course.

Hours and seasons shift with the weather. Check the resort before you drive up.
