A golf resort in the Manistee National Forest south of Manistee, with two 18-hole courses, a nine-hole par-3 course and a 42-room inn.

Course website

Manistee National is a public golf resort set among the pines of the Manistee National Forest, on US-31 south of Manistee. Its first course, The Retreat (formerly Canthooke Valley), opened in 1994 and was designed by Gary Pulsipher; it winds through pine and oak woods. The Revenge (formerly Cutter’s Ridge), a Jerry Matthews design that opened in 2000, is laid out through marshes and wetlands and plays from five sets of tees.

A nine-hole par-3 Short Course, built in-house with reclaimed materials, opened in the fall of 2023 and suits a warm-up or an evening loop. The resort’s inn, which sits between the two 18-hole courses, has 42 rooms including suites, and there are also larger cottages for groups and a restaurant on site.
