Mackinac Island State Harbor

The public marina in Haldimand Bay below Fort Mackinac, steps from downtown Mackinac Island, with mostly transient slips booked through the DNR.

Mackinac Island State Harbor is the island’s public marina, set in Haldimand Bay across from Marquette Park at the foot of Fort Mackinac. Main Street and Market Street, with the island’s shops and restaurants, are a short walk from the docks, and the car-free island is explored on foot, by bike or by carriage.

The harbor is also a working port, shared with ferries and other commercial traffic. Most of its 80 slips are for transient boats, and demand peaks in July around the Chicago and Port Huron races to Mackinac, so boaters are urged to reserve through the DNR well ahead.

Reservations

Reservations through the Michigan DNR (MiDNRReservations.com) are strongly advised. Slips are hardest to get during the Chicago and Port Huron sailboat races, and the state tourism listing notes limited availability from mid-June to late July.
