Good Harbor Bay Beach

A national lakeshore beach at the end of Bohemian Road (County Road 669) on Good Harbor Bay, with a picnic area, a seasonal vault toilet and sunsets toward Pyramid Point.

Good Harbor Bay Beach is a sunset beach. It sits at the end of Bohemian Road (County Road 669) on the northeast edge of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and the evening light falls across Pyramid Point and the Whaleback dune. You can see North Manitou Island from the sand.

From Glen Arbor, follow M-22 northeast past Port Oneida and turn left on Bohemian Road. The parking area is just back from the beach, with a shoreline picnic area. Facilities are basic: a vault toilet and water in season, and that is it. Shalda Creek runs into the lake west of the lot.

It gets busy on hot summer days, so come early or plan on the evening.

You need a national park entrance pass. Beach fires are allowed between the water and the first dune, and glass is not. Dogs on a leash can go west of the road; the stretch east toward County Road 651 is closed to them.

There are no lifeguards. Watch for rip currents on Lake Michigan and stay out in rough water. The Good Harbor Bay Trail starts nearby if you want a walk, and the northern end of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail is at Bohemian Road.
