Free evening hikes on a lantern-marked trail at Ludington State Park on select winter Saturdays, ending at a bonfire at the park amphitheater.
On a handful of winter evenings, the Friends of Ludington State Park light a trail with lanterns and invite the public to walk or snowshoe it after dark. The hikes start from the warming shelter near the park entrance and finish at a bonfire at the amphitheater.
There is no charge, and snowshoes can be borrowed for free, which makes this an easy introduction to snowshoeing. Check the Ludington visitors bureau or the Friends group before heading out, since winter weather can change plans.
Volunteers from the Friends of Ludington State Park mark a route with lanterns, and hikers meet at the warming shelter near the park entrance. The hikes are free and open to the public, snowshoes can be borrowed at no cost, and a bonfire at the amphitheater offers a place to warm up.
