Cartier Mansion

On East Ludington Avenue near downtown Ludington

The Cartier Mansion was built in 1905 as the home of lumberman Warren Cartier, his wife Kate and their three sons. The Ludington Area Convention and Visitors Bureau describes it as a neoclassical estate listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and its rooms keep much of the original woodwork, fixtures and antiques.

Today the inn has 18 guest rooms spread across three buildings: the mansion itself, a carriage house with four suites, and the Ludington House, an 1878 Victorian with eight rooms that the Cartier Mansion now operates. Every room has a private bath, and a multi-course breakfast is part of the stay. The inn is adults only.

The mansion is on Ludington Avenue, a short walk from downtown and the city beach. It belongs to the Ludington Historic Bed and Breakfast Association, a group of inns along the avenue near downtown, and the visitors bureau notes that Ludington State Park and the Lake Michigan shoreline are a short trip away.
