North Bank Trail

A paved rail-trail of about six miles east from Spring Lake to Nunica, linked to the Lakeside Trail loop through Spring Lake and Ferrysburg.

The North Bank Trail is the quiet ride out of Spring Lake: a paved rail-trail of about six miles heading east along the old Grand Trunk Railroad line beside M-104 to Nunica.

Start in town. Parking is listed at Spring Lake’s Central Park, near the trail’s west end, which also has restrooms and water, and the trail begins where it meets the Lakeside Trail at Fruitport Road.

The Lakeside Trail is the other half of the plan. Its paved loops run around Spring Lake and through the villages of Spring Lake, Ferrysburg and Fruitport, so you can turn a short ride into a longer day. For the long version, the Spoonville Trail at Nunica crosses the Grand River and links toward the Idema Explorers Trail.

The trail is meant to reach Marne one day; for now, plan on the Spring Lake to Nunica stretch.
