Beach · Southern Gateway
The Village of Spring Lake's sandy public beach on Spring Lake itself: calm inland water, picnic shelters and a viewing deck, near the Lakeside Trail.
Lakeside Beach is the calm-water swim in Spring Lake, a good fit for families with small kids who would rather skip the Lake Michigan surf. It is the village’s sandy public beach on Spring Lake itself, the inland lake, at North Lake Street and Beach Drive.
It is set up for an easy afternoon. There are picnic shelters with tables, and a deck with benches looking out over the water. Restrooms are typically open from June to September, and the park is generally open until 10 pm.
Lifeguards have been listed on duty in summer, but schedules change, so check with the village before you count on one, and keep an eye on the kids either way.
Bring bikes if you can. The paved Lakeside Trail passes about half a block away, so a ride and a swim fit into the same outing. For big-lake waves and sand, head to Grand Haven State Park or North Beach Park in Ferrysburg instead.
