Benzie & Sleeping Bear
Frankfort
A beach-and-lighthouse harbor town: a Lake Michigan beach at the end of Main Street, a breakwater light off the sand and Point Betsie up the shore.
Resort · Benzie & Sleeping Bear
On the north shore of Crystal Lake near Frankfort
Chimney Corners has welcomed guests on Crystal Lake since 1935 and is now run by the third generation of the Rogers family. The resort takes its name from the four hand-built chimneys in its historic lodge, which operates as a bed and breakfast.
Besides the lodge rooms, the resort rents vintage-style cottages set in the wooded bluffs and along the shore, plus apartments; no two units are alike. The property has about 300 feet of sandy beach on Crystal Lake and more than 400 acres of woods for hiking, along with tennis courts, kayaks and paddleboards, and a restaurant on site.
The resort lists its season as May 1 through October 31; confirm dates when you book. It sits off M-22 near Frankfort, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is close by to the north.
