The Homestead

On Lake Michigan in Glen Arbor

The Homestead stretches along roughly a mile of Lake Michigan beach at Glen Arbor, with Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore on its landward sides. The resort and the Glen Lake Chamber of Commerce both describe it as a four-season property.

Summer activities listed by the chamber include tennis, golf, fly-fishing and watercraft rentals, alongside pools and hot tubs. In winter the resort lists downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and skating, plus a spa, a salon and a fitness center open year-round; check what is running before a winter trip. It also has several restaurants and hosts weddings.

Lodging is spread across small hotels, a rustic lodge, a historic inn, and privately owned homes and condominiums rented through the resort. The resort points guests to the wineries of Leelanau County, and the national lakeshore’s trails and beaches surround the property.
