Shanty Creek Resorts

Shanty Creek Resorts covers about 5,500 acres outside Bellaire, in the Antrim County lake country known as the Chain of Lakes. The resort is organized into four villages, Summit, Cedar River, Schuss and Hawk’s Eye, each with its own lodging, dining or golf. Most addresses are in Bellaire, while Schuss Village sits on the Mancelona side.

Golf fills the summer, with five courses on the property, a golf academy and FootGolf. In winter the resort runs downhill skiing and terrain parks on Schuss Mountain, plus Nordic trails, alpine tubing and snowshoeing. The Bellaire Chamber of Commerce also notes biking and boating in summer, and fall brings scenic chairlift rides for the color season.

Lodging ranges from hotel rooms to condos and rental homes, some with lake views. Pure Michigan points to Torch Lake, the Grass River and the Glacial Hills trail system as nearby places to explore.
