Crystal Mountain
In Thompsonville, Benzie County
Crystal Mountain sits just west of Thompsonville in Benzie County. The resort dates to 1956, and the Benzie County business directory lists it as a family-owned, four-season resort destination. Skiing defines the winter, and golf takes over once the snow is gone.
Winter brings downhill skiing and snowboarding, cross-country trails, lessons and children’s programs, and race leagues. In the warmer months the focus moves to two golf courses, Mountain Ridge and Betsie Valley, along with golf schools and lessons. The Crystal Spa and a fitness center with an indoor pool operate through the year, and the resort hosts weddings, reunions and conferences.
Lodging ranges from hotel rooms to condos, townhomes and cottages. The resort also points guests toward canoeing, tubing, kayaking and biking in the surrounding area, and Traverse City Tourism notes its location near Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
