The Highlands resort near Harbor Springs has four 18-hole courses, including The Heather and Arthur Hills, plus a lit par-3 short course.
The Highlands, the ski and golf resort northeast of Harbor Springs, runs four 18-hole courses. The Heather, a 1966 Robert Trent Jones Sr. design at the base of the ski slopes, was the resort’s first course and finishes over a lake. The Arthur Hills course climbs to one of the higher points in the Lower Peninsula, the Moor plays past marshes and water, and the Donald Ross Memorial reproduces well-known holes from Ross courses around the country. The Ross course dates to 1989 and was renovated starting in 2020 with Michigan architect Ray Hearn.
Hearn also designed Doon Brae, a par-3 short course on the lower ski slopes that opened in 2025 and is lit for night play, and the Back Yaird, a 27-hole putting course at the foot of the slopes near the Main Lodge. The resort’s lodging is on site.
