Mackinac Island Airport

The state park airport on Mackinac Island takes private planes, air taxis and charters, with horse-drawn taxis into town.

Mackinac Island Airport is owned and operated by the Mackinac Island State Park Commission, and state park staff maintain it. No airlines land here. Visitors arrive by private plane, by air taxi from St. Ignace with Fresh Air Aviation or Northwoods Aviation, or by charter from other Michigan airports with operators such as Fresh Air Aviation, Island Airways and North Country Aviation.

In winter, when ice stops the ferries, flying becomes the main way on and off the island, and the park notes that weather can cancel flights for days at a time. Nearby airline service is at Pellston Regional Airport.
