M-119 leaves US-31 near Bay View, just east of Petoskey, and runs through Harbor Springs. North of town it becomes the Tunnel of Trees, a narrow lakeshore road through Good Hart that ends in the middle of Cross Village. The Tunnel of Trees attraction page covers the road itself, its history and how it is managed.

This is a drive to take slowly. Leave extra time for the curves, for stopping to let oncoming cars pass, and for cyclists. Fall color is the peak season and the most crowded, so a weekday visit is the calmer choice. Check for closures and detours before setting out.

Before you go

  • The Petoskey bureau's version of this drive returns to Harbor Springs as a loop on inland county roads from Cross Village.
