On Pine River Lane in downtown Charlevoix
The Weathervane Terrace stands on Pine River Lane in downtown Charlevoix, a short walk from the shops, restaurants and the Beaver Island ferry. It was designed by Earl Young, the builder behind Charlevoix’s stone “mushroom houses,” and the hotel describes it as his largest hotel. The Charlevoix Area Chamber of Commerce notes that the hotel has kept its Earl Young architecture, including stone turrets and a boulder fireplace.
The chamber lists 67 rooms and suites. Some have fireplaces, kitchenettes or jetted tubs, and the suites have balconies with views toward Lake Michigan. At the top of the building, the Tower Suite has a circular glass living room, a stone nook and a fireplace, features the hotel says are found only in Young’s homes.
The chamber also mentions a seasonal heated pool and a continental breakfast for guests. The hotel says the beach is about 300 feet away.
