Park Place Hotel

On East State Street in downtown Traverse City

The Park Place Hotel rises over East State Street in the heart of downtown Traverse City. Its history begins in 1873, when Henry Campbell built the Campbell House Hotel on land he bought from the city. Five years later, lumber barons Perry Hannah and A. Tracy Lay bought it, improved it and renamed it the Park Place.

The present tower was completed in 1930, and Traverse Connect, the regional chamber, notes it was then the tallest building in Traverse City. The hotel is owned and managed by Regency Hotel Management.

Rooms are split between the historic tower and a west wing, and two suites have balconies overlooking the city and Grand Traverse Bay. Minervas Restaurant serves an all-day menu, and Top of the Park on the 10th floor serves cocktails, beer and wine. The hotel also has an indoor pool, a hot tub and a fitness center, and it hosts conferences and weddings.
