Grand Traverse Resort and Spa

In Acme, northeast of Traverse City

Grand Traverse Resort and Spa is in Acme, a short way northeast of downtown Traverse City. The resort is owned and operated by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and promotes itself as a year-round destination.

Golf is the main draw in the warmer months. Traverse City Tourism lists 54 holes on three courses: The Bear, designed by Jack Nicklaus, The Wolverine, a Gary Player design, and Spruce Run. The resort also has Spa Grand Traverse, an indoor water playground, trails, several restaurants and a private beach.

Rooms are split between the main hotel, a 17-story tower and condominiums. The Aerie restaurant on the tower’s 16th floor looks out over Grand Traverse Bay. The resort has hosted meetings and conferences since 1980, and it runs seasonal events such as a fall wine weekend.
