Historic site · Benzie & Sleeping Bear
Frankfort's 1923 Main Street movie house, renovated and run by a nonprofit, showing first-run and independent films and home to the Frankfort Film Festival.
The Garden Theater is Frankfort’s rainy-night plan: a Main Street movie house built in 1923, renovated starting in 2008, and still showing films.
A nonprofit, the Friends of the Garden Theater, owns and runs it. The program mixes first-run releases with independent and foreign films, so it is worth a look even if you have seen the summer blockbusters.
It is also the home of the annual Frankfort Film Festival and the Frankfort48 film contest, and it hosts concerts in its Live at The Garden series. Check the calendar for what is playing, then walk Main Street before the show.
