Dennos Museum Center

Traverse City's art museum on the Northwestern Michigan College campus, known for its Inuit art collection, with a hands-on Discovery Gallery.

The Dennos Museum Center is Traverse City’s art museum and a good rainy-day plan, on the Northwestern Michigan College campus off East Front Street. It opened in 1991.

Come for the Inuit art. Its collection of work from the Canadian Arctic is described as one of the most historically complete of its kind in the United States, and it anchors the permanent galleries alongside art from the 19th through 21st centuries and changing exhibitions.

Kids get the hands-on Discovery Gallery, and outdoor sculptures by international and Michigan artists stand around the building. The museum’s Milliken Auditorium hosts concerts and events, so check the calendar if you want to pair a visit with a show.

The museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate and a Certified Autism Center.
