Crooked Tree Arts Center

Petoskey's arts center in a restored 1890 church on Mitchell Street, with free galleries, a 220-seat theater and classes year-round.

Crooked Tree Arts Center is the easy art stop in downtown Petoskey: free galleries in a church built in 1890, restored and turned into a cultural center, on Mitchell Street.

Walk in for the exhibitions, which change through the year, and for work by local artists you can buy. There is no charge for the galleries.

Check the calendar for an evening show. The center’s 220-seat theater hosts concerts, plays and films, and its Downtown Sound series runs through the cooler months. Outdoor performances and activities are held on Bidwell Plaza.

If you are staying a while, it also runs classes and workshops in art, music and dance, along with a School of Ballet.
